The
Wiltern
The historic Wiltern re-opened on
October 15 2002, with a major $1.5 million makeover
and three sold out Bob Dylan concerts, followed by a
sold-out Rolling Stones concert in November. 1, 2002
fixed seats have been removed, the slanted floor has
been sculpted into five tiers rising away from the front
of the stage and the balcony retains its fixed seats
for about 1,000 people. The main floor now has a flexible
setup and holds from 900 to 1,400 depending upon the
setup. The lobby and exterior got a face-lift and the
venue will now serve food and cocktails.
The Wiltern was built in 1931 and is an excellent example
of Art Deco. The Wiltern is owned by Clear Channel Entertainment's
Los Angeles music division. Clear Channel Entertainment,
formerly known as SFX, is a
subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications, Inc.
